Working with the American Masonry Company in Riverside, California, a family owned business, he learned the craft of masonry. Starting as a helper, he was soon promoted to bricklayer. For four years he learned everything he could about stones and stone work. In 1990 he moved to Massachusetts and started working for Paul L Brackett Associates in Framingham, MA, where he was a mason and learned more about landscaping and running a business.
